I know many of you have been anxiously waiting to hear the big news! Is it a BOY or a GIRL??? The day has finally arrived. I am 20 weeks along, so halfway through my pregnancy already! It has been fun to feel the baby kicking and moving around for the past few weeks, but we were excited to “see” the baby on the ultrasound and find out all is well.

Well, our baby is very photogenic already, cooperating for all the pictures the ultrasound tech needed. We were told this midpoint ultrasound to check everything would take an hour, but it took less than half an hour. All the measurements were right on and everything looks perfect! At one point it looked like the baby was waving at us, and at the end we got to see the baby moving its tongue around. We got some great pictures and even a DVD to take home with us!

We are so thankful that God has protected our little miracle as I’ve been undergoing chemo treatments! It’s amazing how God designed the placenta to protect that little life from dangerous things while inside the womb. I’ve now had 5 chemo treatments in the last 6 weeks. The side effects are definitely lessened since I am getting the lower dosage over 3 weeks instead of one big dose. Most of the side effects have been fairly manageable. The fatigue is definitely the hardest part still, but has not been as severe as my first week on chemo, so I am very thankful for that! My blood counts have stayed fairly steady only dropping a little bit, not requiring any booster shots so far! The iron supplements seem to be helping with my hemoglobin levels, which are only slightly low now.

Our family has been dealing with various colds and coughs going through all five of us in the last month, ending with Faith having the stomach flu last week. Everyone appears to be almost healthy again, so we are praying this is the end of our sicknesses for the year. We definitely understand what a blessing being healthy is now-a blessing we so often take for granted!

We were able to enjoy wonderful Christmas celebrations with extended family and a nice quiet Christmas Day at home with our family to celebrate Jesus’ Birthday with our own little birthday party! We have been so blessed this Christmas season by the gifts we have received from so many friends and family and even strangers. Nearly everyday we had something arrive in the mail or dropped off to us! God has provided for so many needs through so many wonderful people. We are incredibly thankful to each of you for your love and generosity to us. We are most thankful for God’s amazing love for us in sending His only Son to earth to be our Savior. “She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21)

We were also able to celebrate my Great Grandma’s promotion to the presence of her Savior the day after Christmas. She would’ve been 98 years old this month. We were thankful to be able to attend the services in Eastern Iowa to see and be encouraged by many family members who loved my Grandma dearly. We are so thankful that we have the hope and assurance that we will see her again someday in heaven! I pray all of you may receive and live in light of this hope and assurance as we begin another new year: “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13)

Oh, did I forget to mention something? IT’S A…BOY!!! We now have the makings for a Wilmeth Men’s Quartet someday. I remember Eric talking about that in the hospital right after Faith was born. And now 10 years later, we have 4 boys in our family. 😉 Faith and I will be slightly outnumbered in our household, but we will never be lacking for a knight in shining armor to come to our aid! We are so thankful for our sweet, perfect gift from above in the midst of this journey! God is so good!
